Habacoa is a new superyacht marina in South Abaco, The Bahamas. Scheduled to open in 2027, Habacoa will be North America’s largest and most comprehensive marina, reimagining traditional marina experiences with luxurious hospitality. It will be the centrepiece of a development featuring world-class facilities, residences, and a five-star hotel.

An Ideal Home Berth

Habacoa will have 150 slips for yachts ranging from 18 to over 200m. The marina will offer in-slip utilities, diesel refueling, customs and immigration services, a one-stop provisioning centre, and a 200-unit dry stack facility.

State-of-the-Art Design and Engineering

Developed by Moffatt & Nichol, Habacoa is designed to withstand a 1-in-100-year storm event. Its 110-acre basin on the leeward side of the island features a substantial breakwater, making sure it’s tranquil year-round. The marina’s location offers easy access with two nearby international airports and close proximity to Florida and the Eastern US, being just 185 miles east of Fort Lauderdale and 20 minutes by private jet from Miami.

Luxurious Amenities

Habacoa will offer a range of stylish amenities, including a 25,000-square-foot members-only yacht club, night club, and casino, all designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Hadid’s design will blend seamlessly with the marine atmosphere, using sustainable technologies and environmentally responsible materials. The transparent design will ensure a natural connection to the island’s beauty, providing natural light and ventilation.

Wellness & Recreation

Guests and residents can enjoy an expansive spa, wellness and fitness centre, and sports. Crew members will have access to an upscale dedicated crew club, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Commiting To Environmental & Social Responsibility

Habacoa’s design emphasises environmental and social responsibility. Initiatives include working with marine biologists to transplant corals impacted by construction, minimising shoreline and marine life disruption, and utilising renewable energy for one-third of the project’s energy needs. Solar power will be harnessed from the abundant sunshine, and rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling will ensure sustainable water usage.

Socio-Economic Benefits

Habacoa will bring significant socio-economic benefits to The Bahamas, including community investment, historical preservation, and infrastructure improvements. The project is expected to create over 1,000 jobs for locals, with 600 permanent positions post-completion.
