Time off for yacht crew whilst working on a busy Superyacht is rare during the season, but if you do manage to escape for a few hours, here are the top 5 best beach clubs in the Mediterranean for this charter season.
1. Nikki Beach, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia
The Nikki Beach brand has set up shop in stunning Sardinia. You can expect the chic, pared-back glamour that the brand is famous for. The beach is white and sandy, the music fantastic and the menu offers a choice of salads, pasta, fresh fish, pizza, and sushi. For your lounging needs, there are sunbeds or shady four-poster beds with curtains and cushions providing the perfect spot for an afternoon snooze. It’s also super close to Porto Cervo, so easy to reach for a much-needed break.
2. Puro Beach, Illetas, Mallorca
Illetas is a newer addition to the Puro Beach family, and it certainly is a fabulous one. If you’ve been to the PB in Palma, you know what to expect. Great food, great soundtrack, icy cocktails, and spa treatments by the turquoise water. Nestled into a rocky peninsula, there are various relaxation areas to choose from – sun loungers and sunbeds by the water, sofas facing the water, a ‘beach’ area, and the restaurant itself serving Asian fusion dishes in the shade.
3. Scorpios, Mykonos, Greece
If you want a beach club with a difference, then this is the place for you. More a retreat than a club, Scorpios is the epitome of hippy boho-chic offering a relaxed space to unwind. With rustically beautiful décor using natural materials, Scorpios has a unique vibe thanks to its daily rituals that start at sunset and the presence and performance of healers, artists, mediation and movement teachers, DJs, and experimental musicians. There are also classes, talks, and massages to feed your soul. The stunning food is organic, locally sourced, and mostly vegetarian. There is also a gorgeous onsite boutique shop. Truly beautiful.
4. Beach House, Playa D’En Bossa, Ibiza
This beach chillout is based solely on The White Isle and offers a more relaxed, ‘barefoot’ feel than its competitors. Like Puro and Nikki Beach, it’s beautifully and simply decorated. There are sun loungers on the sandy beach, live DJs playing chilled tunes, and delicious food and drink. In addition, there is a free beach yoga class every weekday, the food is consciously nutritious and healthy (including breakfast), and there is an artisan boutique shop to browse in.
5. Maora Beach, Bonifacio, Corsica
A short trip from the marinas of Bonifacio will take you to this little beach haven on the other side of the island, in a little bay on the Gulf of Santa Manza. You have a choice between a sun lounger on the manicured sand overlooking the turquoise sea, or relaxing on a daybed enjoying views of the lush gardens to the rear. The al-fresco restaurant on the water serves a delicious choice of fresh seafood, meats, pasta, and risottos. Visitors can follow this with an array of tempting desserts. If you have a surge of energy, you can rent boats, kayaks, and paddleboards, or browse in the onsite shop. For the less energetic, a massage and wellbeing area offers a full menu of treatments to help you enjoy a lazy afternoon.
