Who owns Superyacht ‘Loon’?

Built by the Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts in 2010 and originally named Icon, the yacht was purchased in 2023. Loon is currently owned by American businessman Craig Leipold. Leipold, known as the owner of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, renamed the yacht after his lakehouse favorite, the loon bird. Before him, Loon had changed hands multiple times, with notable owners including Russian banker Alexander Mazanov and Irish billionaire Paul Coulson.

Social Media Superstar

Loon isn’t just floating around – it’s making a splash online! With Captain Paul Clarke at the helm since 2017, the yacht boasts an impressive 140,000 Instagram followers and 121,000 YouTube subscribers. A full-time content creator on board captures stunning drone shots and videos, turning every charter into a must-see adventure.

Toy Heaven

Loon is a toy lover’s paradise. With more water toys than you can handle, including four Jet Skis (most yachts only have two!), Seabobs, wakeboards, foils, and even pre-release gadgets, this yacht is a playground on the water.

The Crew That Does It All

A crew that’s just as impressive as the yacht? Absolutely. Not only are they top-notch in hospitality, but they’re also entertainers – think scuba instructors, masseuses, yoga trainers, DJs, and even a guitar-strumming engineer who’s always ready to serenade guests.

Epic Adventures Onboard

From professional poker player Dan Bilzerian wake-surfing behind the yacht to the crew jumping over the bow dressed as Thanksgiving turkeys, Loon is all about making every moment extraordinary. And that’s not just for celebrities. Magicians, fire breathers, and even helicopters have graced Loon’s epic charters.

Sweet Touches – And Honey!

Loon even has its own beehive! Partnering with a biodynamic honey producer in Finland, the yacht features its own honey in gourmet dishes onboard. It’s the perfect sweet touch to a luxury charter.

Cutting-Edge Connectivity

Those onboard stay connected anywhere in the world with Loon’s high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi and a fully integrated Apple TV system. Whether it’s working remotely or streaming movies, they’ll always be plugged in on the open seas.

The Heroic Yacht

Not just about luxury, Loon is also a lifesaver – literally. In a Caribbean season past, the yacht was involved in two rescue missions, one with the U.S. Coast Guard and another involving a couple of divers lost at sea. Captain Clarke and the crew’s swift actions turned potential disaster into success.

Chartering Loon

Loon charters for $550,000 in low season and $600,000 in high season.
