The prestigious title of Sailing Yacht of the Year 2024 has been awarded to the 59.7-meter Sarissa, built by Royal Huisman. In a competitive field that included other notable yachts like Zemi, Sarissa stood out for its innovation, cutting-edge technology, and exquisite design. The clear choice among the judges.

A triumph of innovation

Designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, Sarissa boasts several industry-firsts, starting with its square-top mainsail, the largest of its kind in the world. This revolutionary sail, made from 3Di RAW carbon by North Sails, is the highest-spec ever used in in-boom furling. It pushes the boundaries of performance sailing. Complementing the sail is a 76-meter-high carbon mast with aero carbon rigging. This is refined through advanced aerodynamic studies with North Sails and Southern Spars.

Sarissa’s propulsion system is equally groundbreaking, featuring the first-ever forward-facing retractable electric azipod. This system allows the yacht to accelerate quickly in light winds, while its lifting keel and high righting moment configuration ensure top performance under all conditions.

Seamless design & luxurious interiors

While performance was a key focus, Sarissa’s design didn’t compromise on luxury. The yacht’s flowing, organic interior was crafted by Liaigre, combining elegance with comfort. The layout incorporates an abundance of exterior living spaces. It offers areas to relax and entertain that are rarely found on sailing yachts of this kind.
