Donald Trump’s lavish lifestyle has always been part of his brand. From gilded penthouses to grand golf courses, Trump knows how to live large and loud. But did you know he also dabbled in superyachts? Now he’s running for American presidency (one more time), let’s take a quick trip through Donald Trump’s superyacht history, a brief but bold foray into the maritime world.

From Saudi Billionaire to Trump Princess

In 1980, the yacht Nabila was built for Saudi billionaire Adnan Khashoggi for $100 million. The yacht was a star of its time, even featuring in the Bond film Never Say Never Again. By the late 1980s, however, Khashoggi hit financial trouble and sold the yacht, which eventually landed in Trump’s hands in 1988 for $29 million.

Trump’s Yacht Makeover

Of course, Trump being Trump, a standard superyacht wasn’t enough. After a $10 million refit, Nabila became Trump Princess, complete with a pool, cinema, sauna, disco, and even a private hospital. And in true Trump fashion, the helipad’s “H” was replaced with a big “T” for…well, you can probably fill in the blank 😉

The Yacht That Never Was

In 1989, Trump announced plans for Trump Princess II, a mega-yacht over 400 feet long. He even went as far as buying the shipyard, Amels, to build it. But financial troubles hit, forcing Trump to cancel the project and sell the company just two months later.

The End of the Trump Princess

In 1991, Trump sold Trump Princess to Prince Al-Waleed for $19 million, who renamed it Kingdom 5KR. And just like that, Trump’s brief but flashy yachting adventure came to an end.
