Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes SAS has signed a 30-year concession agreement to modernise the Vieux Port de Cannes.

Located in the heart of the French- Riveria, Vieux Port de Cannes, and Port Pierre Canto are both amongst the first transatlantic stopovers in Europe. At present, Port de Cannes can accommodate 60 Superyachts up to 65m, while Port Pierre Canto can accommodate  Superyachts up to 90m, with 40 berths available for yachts over 30m.

This will be the 23rd marina in Island Global Yachting’s (IGY) worldwide network. Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes development programme will feature 727 berths and will see the modernisation of the technical area including the refueling station, a semi-covered parking lot with 519 spaces, and the creation of an entirely new Harbor Master’s Office and service centre. As well as, the relocation of the careening area and a fisherman village – due to be completed by January 2024.

Among the new services included in the plan are concierge services, an electric shuttle connecting Vieux Port de Cannes and Port Canto, and the areas within the Vieux Port de Cannes. Those with reduced mobility will also be catered to with adapted berths. With IGY and Fayat as shareholders, modernizing, enhancing, and increasing the capacity of the Vieux Port de Cannes’ land and maritime infrastructure will see an improvement in the quality of services available to port users and see huge benefits for large vessels.

Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes will become a model of ecological protection, technological innovation, and sustainable development with numerous environmental initiatives from underwater drones to inspect pollution to a carbon offsetting program. The use of sustainable energy sources, monitoring water quality, and zero-emission fuels will all aid in the transformation of Vieux Port de Cannes into what Tom Makuamal, CEO of IGY says will be the “the best-in-class maritime destination” and “introduce the exceptional destination into the global maritime community”, adds Emmanual Messian, the port director.
