This September 2024, a group of determined yacht crew members – the “Arbema Rascals” – will embark on an epic cycling journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats, covering an impressive 1,000 miles in just 14 days. This ambitious ride isn’t just for the thrill of the challenge – it’s a mission to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to their hearts: Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT).

A Noble Cause: Supporting FACT

FACT is a remarkable charity that delivers education and awareness programs aimed at helping people understand the broad impact of cancer. They provide critical support for cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. From raising public awareness to delivering tailored education programs in schools, workplaces, and public spaces, FACT is dedicated to building communities and providing a network of support for those affected by cancer.

Captain Mike Sheen

“As a yacht crew, we’ve faced challenges together at sea, but now we’re coming together on land to cycle from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in support of Fighting All Cancers Together.

Cancer touches all of us, and as a team, we want to make a difference. Every mile we pedal is a step closer to hope, healing, and a future where no one faces cancer alone. We invite you to follow our journey, support our cause, and cheer us on through every challenge by following our Instagram page. Together, we can make an impact, one mile at a time.”

– Mike Sheen, captain onboard Arbema

By sponsoring or donating to the Arbema Rascals’ ride, you’ll be supporting FACT’s vital work, ensuring that those suffering from cancer, along with their families, can access essential services quickly and easily.

A Journey Beyond The Bike

The Arbema Rascals are no ordinary cycling team – they are yacht crew members gearing up to hit the rolling hills of Britain. As they train for their cycling adventure, they’re sharing their journey with their growing audience across industries and from different corners of the world. The crew offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their sunny, adventurous lives on board, while preparing for the rigors of the challenge ahead.

Initially planned as an exclusive event for Arbema yacht crew, the ride has expanded, with two friends from another yacht joining the cause. Looking ahead, the team envisions making this a yearly event, with a new challenge each year, ensuring charity work becomes a core part of their yacht crew culture.

Louis, Chief Officer

“There are various reasons that propel me towards this ride: completing a hard challenge with like-minded people as in the case with this group – I thrive on digging deep and keeping that morale high amongst the team, smiling at adversity. Those cold, wet moments will definitely put a smile on my face as it’s rewarding to ride through difficult circumstances.

Ultimately, doing something for others encompasses meaning so the Charity itself is also pivotal; the foundations of what FACT are built from go towards a cause that means a lot to me. Those riding are also avid cyclists so, regardless of the obstacles we’ll indeed run into, sitting in the saddle and smashing out a good distance makes it all worth it!”

– Louis, Chief Officer

The sponsors

Generous sponsors Quay Crew, DSNM, FemoBunker, and Lumacon have stepped forward to support the Arbema Rascals on their cycling mission, helping them bring more attention to the cause and ensuring the charity ride is a success.

So When Does The Ride Start?

The Arbema Rascals will begin their ride on 23rd September, and the adventure will span a fortnight. Along the way, they’ll be pushing themselves both mentally and physically, all for a good cause.
