Barcelona has been announced as the host venue for the 37th America’s Cup. The event, which is one of the biggest in sailing, is coming to the Spanish city in September and October of 2024. As well as being exciting news for the whole city, the announcement is also due to benefit many local marinas, which will berth numerous Superyachts expected to visit the area during this busy time.
Port Vell
Perhaps the most well-known marina in Barcelona is Port Vell. The marina has the facilities to accommodate some of the largest superyachts in the world.
Boats of up to 180m can moor here in a stylish and well-provided environment. There are two parts to Port Vell Marina: a cruise and ferry port and a fishing port. The grand mall, Maremagnum, which houses the biggest aquarium in Europe is also located on the premises.
Villanova Marina
In the latter part of 2018, Pendennis announced a majority shareholding in Vilanova Grand Marina, Barcelona. Conveniently positioned just 45 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and 30 minutes from the city’s international airport, Vilanova Grand Marina is the perfect base in the heart of the Mediterranean. The marina has 48 berths for superyachts ranging between 25 and 130 metres including a 24-hour security service. Initial works were completed in the Autumn of 2019 resulting in a superyacht Technical Service Centre trading as Pendennis Vilanova, spanning across a 30,000sqm shipyard equipped with both a 200t and 620t travel hoist for performing repair and maintenance works.
Marina Vela
Located next to the W hotel and minutes from the centre of Barcelona, Marina Vela has a privileged seaside location. The marina features 130 moorings, the first Dry-Stack Marina in Europe, and a unique gastronomic, leisure and commercial offer.
With state-of-the-art facilities, it is located in an exceptional environment, surrounded by top-quality facilities, such as the W Hotel, sports centres and companies specialising in services for boats.
Marina Vela Barcelona offers visitors fast access to the open sea, 24-hour security service and absolute privacy with exclusive access for clients.
Badalona Marina
Marina de Badalona is located in the municipality of the same name, which is located northeast of Barcelona. The marina in Badalona has 643 spaces with a maximum length of 30m and a maximum draught of 3.5 metres.
Boat sales and hire, selective garbage collection, gasoline, bilge collection, car park, laundry, ramp, medical aid, tourist and weather information, and mailing are all available at Badalona Marina.
