It’s that time of year again. The 2024 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is here, celebrating its 33rd anniversary! Since its debut in 1991, Port Hercule has transformed into a playground for the superyachting elite, showcasing everything from the most impressive superyachts to cutting-edge maritime technology. Here’s a glimpse at some facts that make Monaco one interesting place, and a bit about where you can find exhibitors – and what largest yachts are going! Pop the champagne and let the good times flow. Take a moment to say hello to us at Superyacht Content too.
Over 120 Superyachts – And Counting
This year, the Monaco Yacht Show boasts a fleet of over 120 superyachts, with an average length of 50 meters — and some towering over 100 meters! Among them, 40 brand-new launches are set to wow the crowds, too.
Fun Facts About Monaco
Where the billionaires play
Monaco is home to some serious wealth, with one in three residents being a millionaire. That’s 12,261 millionaires per square mile! Monaco also boasts the highest GDP per capita globally, second only to Luxembourg. If you’re considering real estate, prepare your wallet: $1 million will get you around 90 square feet of prime property!
Small but mighty
Monaco may be tiny at just 0.81 square miles – smaller than New York’s Central Park – but it packs a lot into its borders. Monaco has a population of 38,000, making it one of the most densely populated places in the world. Despite its size, Monaco plays a massive role in the yachting world, attracting the most prestigious visitors and brands each year.
It’s a safe place
Monaco isn’t just glamorous — it’s also incredibly safe. With more police per capita than anywhere else in the world, there’s one officer for every 73 residents. Plus, the city-state boasts strict safety standards with video surveillance, patrol boats, and even a militarised bodyguard unit for the palace. So you can relax while sipping that champagne 😉
Long, healthy, wealthy lives
Want to live longer? Move to Monaco! Residents here enjoy the world’s highest life expectancy at 85.8 years. Experts attribute this longevity to the Mediterranean lifestyle and excellent healthcare. Oh, and we might guess…that superyacht-size bank balance 😉
