Ok, so it’s been quite a while since we did one of these- but in our defence, things have been almost TOO busy!

May was a simply glorious month for everyone at Superyacht Content, not least our superyacht advertising partners, who enjoyed a record month in terms of banner impressions and clickthroughs.

Here are our analytics stats for May 2017:

We are proud of the increasing levels of traffic to our articles we are generating from social media, and are constantly working to improve our techniques in attracting clicks. One clever tool we have been using recently is the CoSchedule Headline Analyzer; which helps publishers to write more punchy/clickable titles for their posts. Anyone who is involved in superyacht marketing should check it out!

Growing the Audience

When I was growing up, you made friends in the playground and on the sports pitches; and the more friends you boasted, the bigger chance you had of making it to the back row of the bus where all the cool kids could sit on the way to school.

These days we collect friends online. You can plot charts, send round-robin messages or invite them all to play Farmville. Generation X scoff at this of course; “how can online friends ever replace real ones?!” they ask over their newspapers…

Of course, the answer is they can’t. But practically as marketers, we need to keep a close eye on our businesses’ online ‘friends list’ in order to ensure our messages are heard loud and clear across the noise of the web.

So how are we getting on with growing our audiences? Well, our advertisers are currently enjoying sharing their news and stories with a Superyacht Content Audience of nearly 35,000 fans!

A very special launch…

One of the proudest moments for me in magnificent-May was our exclusive launch of a new car club for yacht crew called Modern Classics.

Modern Classics was founded by our friend Mark Upton – an experienced industry businessman with a degree in marketing and management. Mark owns a few companies in the yachting industry, however his first passion is cars. He approached us a few months ago with an idea which we thought was absolutely brilliant, and perfectly combined his two most cherished interests…

We combined a social launch of Modern Classics on SuperyachtContent.com and our social profiles with the design and build of a WordPress website. On the day the campaign launched within 10 minutes Mark started receiving emails and calls (this was 4pm). By end of day he had hundreds of messages and he tells us this did not stop for 2 whole days. A large majority of the first 100 shares were sold in the first few days and the momentum has continued over the following weeks (he is still selling about 2-3 shares a day). At the time of writing, he has sold 200,000 GBP in shares (about 75% of those available) to 35 new customers, and we are now generating even-more leads for Modern Classics with a bespoke retargeting campaign via Facebook and Google’s Display Network. What’s more, our launch has generated additional press interest for the start-up, with interview requests from Dockwalk.com and The Crew Report stemming from our article.

The best part? He attests ALL of the interest to our campaign online.

Go Mark!
